We know families are eager to understand how trials work at the Sharks, especially for our Mixed and Girls JDL (Junior Development League) and our Boys and Girls Youth League squads. Here’s everything you need to know.
When are trials held?
Trials are held within the windows Football NSW sets, usually late in the year. These sessions are your child’s opportunity to show their skills to Sharks coaches and earn a place in one of our squads for the following season. 2027 trials are complete, and selected players have been contacted.
How do I register?
Register your interest on our Trials page. Once you have, your details are on our list, and we’ll contact you directly as soon as trial dates, venues and times are confirmed. Trial information is also published on our website and shared on social media.
You won’t miss out if you’ve registered your interest. There’s no need to email or call the club to promote your child: registering guarantees you’ll be notified.
Residency requirements
JDL: all JDL players must live in the Sutherland Shire, under Football NSW’s in-area policy.
Youth League: there is no residency rule, but competition for places is very high.
What happens after trials?
Successful players receive a formal offer from the club.
Players who aren’t selected are encouraged to continue their football with the Sharks Development Program, a great pathway for future opportunities. See Play.
Can’t attend the trial dates?
If your child is injured or unavailable during the published trial period, note this when you register your interest, or contact us. We’ll work with you on the best way forward.
